Maggie with a selection of her amazing creations!

Are you hooked on knitting or crocheting stuffed figures?  Then you HAVE to meet Maggie Turley, creator of hundreds of these fabulous items.  Maggie has been knitting on and off for nearly 40 years.  She started with socks and liked it well enough; but it wasn’t until 2003 when her grand daughter was born that she really found her passion in knitting toys.  Maggie found herself inspired by knit toy masterminds such as Alan Dart and Jean Greenhowe, both of which have become some of her favorite designers.

What are Maggie’s favorite items to knit? She loves knitting critters for her adult kids and her grandchildren.  She has knit characters of each member of her family, extended family, and even her bagpiping ancestor (he’s in the photo above, can you find him?).

In the future Maggie plans to create some old time doctor figures representing generations of her ancestors who practiced medicine from the early 1800′s through the 1930′s.  She also plans to knit “A Christmas Story’s” Scrooge Past, Present, and Future among other things.

A lovely and very talented woman, we are lucky to have Maggie in our company here at Purl.  In August this year she will be holding a “Witch” class in preparation for Halloween.  The Witch class will be posted soon, so get signed up and get your little witch figure done in time for Halloween.  Hopefully this will not be the only class offered by her, so keep an eye out for more to come from Maggie Turley.  Thanks Maggie, we love you!
